Cracks that aren't moving can be routed and sealed. Broken steps and stoops can be rebuilt. But a driveway with cracks in every panel, or a slab poured on fill that's still settling, is throwing money at the problem, and we'll say so and quote a replacement instead.
Repair work is where a lot of contractors cut corners, because it's small and the customer often can't tell the difference until later. Our sectional replacements go on a compacted base with reinforcement doweled into the adjoining slab, so the new piece doesn't sink or heave independently. How much does concrete repair cost?
It depends entirely on what's wrong. Sealing a stable crack is a small job; cutting out and replacing a sunken driveway section is a bigger one; rebuilding a set of steps is different again. There's a minimum charge for small work because the crew and the truck cost the same regardless. Send photos and dimensions and we'll give you a price for the repair and, if it makes sense, for a replacement, so you can compare.
Can a cracked driveway be repaired instead of replaced?
Often, if the crack is stable and the slab around it is sound. If the panels are moving relative to each other, the base has washed out, or there are cracks in most of the panels, replacement is the better investment. We tell you which it is.
Will the repair match my existing concrete?
We match the finish and texture as closely as possible, but new concrete is a different color from weathered concrete and will stay slightly different even as it ages. On a highly visible area, some customers choose to replace a larger section to keep the look consistent, and we'll show you where that line makes sense.
Do you do concrete leveling or mudjacking?
Our approach to sunken concrete is to cut out and re-pour the affected section on a proper base, which fixes the cause rather than lifting the symptom. If your situation is better suited to lifting, we'll tell you so.
