What a slab that size costs
The sizes people ask about by name. Square footage and concrete yardage are exact; the money column applies the building-slab range above, so treat it as a planning number and not a quote.

What actually moves the price
The ground. Sugar sand that needs heavy compaction, clay that needs to be dug out and replaced, shallow rock in Citrus County or Dunnellon, or fill that hasn't settled. Base work is invisible in the finished job and it's where a cheap bid cuts first.
Access. If a mixer truck can back up to the forms, placement is cheap. If the pour is behind the house or at the back of a deep lot, it's either a big crew with wheelbarrows or our line pump. The pump is usually the cheaper of the two and always the cleaner.
Thickness and steel. Four inches with wire is a car driveway. Six inches with rebar is a truck driveway or a shop floor. A monolithic house slab has thickened edges and footings that add concrete and labor.
Finish. Broom finish is the baseline. Exposed aggregate, integral color and stamped patterns add material and a lot of skilled time, and they need sealing.
Demolition. Breaking out and hauling away an old driveway or patio is its own line item, and it depends on how thick and how reinforced the old concrete is.
Distance. We're in Silver Springs. Ocala and Marion County carry little or no travel. Gainesville, Leesburg or Crystal River carry the trip, and we say so in the quote.

Cost questions
Why is a small concrete job so expensive per square foot?
Because the truck, the crew and the setup cost the same whether you pour 80 square feet or 800. Ready-mix plants also charge more per yard for short loads. That is why a walkway costs more per foot than a driveway, and why bundling a walk with a driveway or patio usually saves money.
Does concrete pumping add to the cost of a slab?
It adds the pump charge, but on a lot the truck can't reach it usually replaces a bigger crew, a longer pour and a torn-up yard. On many jobs the pump is the cheaper way to get the concrete placed, and on some it is the only way.
How much does a yard of concrete cover?
One cubic yard covers about 81 square feet at four inches thick, or about 54 square feet at six inches. Add roughly ten percent for waste and uneven grade.
Will you give me a price over the phone?
A ballpark, yes, if you have dimensions and a few photos. A firm price comes after we see the ground, because the base and the access are what move the number.
